Kaiser CHR Uses SAS® to Give CDC
Real-time Data Access for Vaccine Studies
Each year, the VSD project team creates large study databases
with information about vaccines, medical diagnoses, and demographic
factors like age, gender, and ethnicity. These databases used
to be sent directly to CDC for analysis. Several years ago CDC
and the VSD sites decided to move to a distributed data model
to guarantee compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations
while still permitting timely access to VSD data to conduct important
vaccine safety studies. To meet its obligation to provide CDC
scientists and analysts with remote and secure access to these
sensitive study data, the CHR chose SAS software.more

An Intel solution for: The U.S. Census
Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau's Foreign Trade Division recently rolled
out a SAS data warehousing solution to aid in the complex job
of analyzing and disseminating timely data about United States
foreign trade. The division processes some 5 million records of
import/export data each month from the U.S. Customs Service, analyzes
it and distributes it to government agencies, economists, analysts,
students and other interested parties. The new data warehouse,
based on flexible and robust software from data warehousing leader
SAS Institute and running on powerful Intel processor-based servers,
has enabled the division to cut analysis time from days to minutes,
increased analytical depth and flexibility and decreased costs.
