Changing data sources in Crystal

Do you have several copies of a report that are identical except for their data sources?  Are the schemas for the different datasources identical? (ie. Field names, lengths and data types etc)

If you answered yes to these two questions, you can consolidate your multiple reports down to one.  Here is what you need to do:

1. Open up the original copy of the duplicated report; this is the only one you will need.
2. From the menu bar select the Database menu > Set Datasource Location.
3. The Set Datasource Location window pops up; from here you can choose which datasource you want your report to use before it is run.

This would be helpful for instance, if a company had multiple regions or departments and each region/department had its own database.  Each database would have to be setup the same as the others with all the same tables and fields, each field had the same length and data type as the matching field in the other datasources in order for this to work.  However, the actual data contained in the new datasource would be different from the old datasource.
